That second class may not be as big if a few lieutenants pull their papers after their "terminal" vacation. Thanx for #s warwagon Does anyone know if a large class entered the academy in or around January of 1993?

Does anyone know how many Captain vacancies? This can give us an idea of how many Lieutenants may be promoted in the upcoming months.

Numbers are the same. Down 33/ 49 on terminal. The captains budgeted # provided by wereinbacklog can't be right. Anyone know the budgeted #.

 I got that number from Mike Yanosik but I believe it includes everyone above the rank of Lt.  According to the NYPD recruit site it states there are over 450 Captains.

The 450 # is closer. There are actually 51 lieutenants on terminal now. Also if the 450 # is accurate for captains, then they are down 44 captains with 14 on terminal.

 Thanks, bro...anyone else hear that there will be no promotions to Lieutenant or Captain at the end of the month?? A "Guru" on the other site stated this and wasn't sure if anyone else heard something similar.

Awesome thread. With today's 27 sgt's to Lt we will still be negative 10. By the end of the month with Capt promotions I can see negative 30 to 35!

We now enter the waiting game.   Lt. promotions based on who actually retires after taking terminal leave and those promoted to Captain.
